That was my start at Wageningen \ud83d\ude42 As soon as I accepted my application, I simultaneously began to look for a place to stay. I have heard stories about the insufficient housing situation at Wageningen. So, I quickly registered myself at Idealis (now known as <a href=\"http:\/\/room.nl\">http:\/\/room.nl)<\/a>. It indeed is difficult to find a suitable place to live.<\/p>\n<p>My ranking was always a rather large number and finding a place away from Wageningen made it rather difficult. However, I did not give up and after weeks of applying I accepted new rooms, named <a href=\"http:\/\/Nano\">Nano <\/a>at Dreijenplein.\u00a0 The rooms are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Huge,<\/li>\n<li>Expensive,<\/li>\n<li>Far from the University and,<\/li>\n<li>Up the hill (Highest point of Wageningen)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Furthermore, living abroad and lesser days to move to Wageningen made the situation far more worse. However, finally I accepted the only student accommodation available to me. A 17m2 room for a hefty price of \u20ac381.75, with no subsidy and a bike ride of 12 minutes to the University.<\/p>\n<p>I received my keys to Nano a 16 days after I arrived to Wageningen, since the building was still under renovation.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"color: #993366\">It is an old Wageningen Campus renovated to a student accommodation<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_2898\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180908-WA0015.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2898\" class=\"wp-image-2898 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180908-WA0015-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180908-WA0015-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180908-WA0015-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180908-WA0015-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180908-WA0015.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2898\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>NANO: 10-A<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #339966\">WHAT IS NANO?<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>It is the old Wageningen campus, and a partnership between Wageningen University and Research and Socius, and is a student accommodation for both Dutch and International students. The amenities are shared (shower, toilets and kitchen) and a majority of the accommodation have a regular cleaning schedule.<\/p>\n<p>The corridors, rooms and the kitchen are comparatively big. After collecting my keys to <em>10A-27<\/em>, the old Microbiologie department, it was rather a bit of a disappointment for me. The room was handed out in a pretty messy condition. However, the furniture is great and comfortable. In addition to this, the other student living in my corridor are great \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2903\" style=\"width: 179px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180901-WA0010.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2903\" class=\"wp-image-2903\" src=\"https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180901-WA0010-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180901-WA0010-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180901-WA0010-768x1365.jpg 768w, https:\/\/weblog.wur.eu\/international-students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2019\/07\/IMG-20180901-WA0010-576x1024.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 169px) 100vw, 169px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2903\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>10A-27<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>View from the room, is also another benefit from living at Nano. Although my side of the building did not have sunlight into the room, it still smelled fresh every time I opened the window \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To make living at Nano much easier and happier, most of us at the corridor will cook together or at least have one meal together. Over the weekends, there will be potlucks or parties organized.<\/p>\n<p>We also celebrated <em>Sinterklass<\/em> (The Dutch Christmas), exchanged gifts and poems. After our celebrations, we decided to make our corridor memorable and colourful. But, having lived at Nano was a great experience and I have met some really amazing people.
