\nIf you follow our latest blogs (or WUR’s news), then you know that the Bachelor’s<\/a> <\/strong>and Master’s<\/a><\/strong> Open Day<\/strong> recently took place.
\nAs someone in their last, 3rd, year of Bachelor’s, I had to visit the Master’s Open Day, of course. This time we’re not behind the scenes, but the main character! I’m taking you with me and giving you a sneak peek of what it’s like to attend an Open Day at WUR<\/strong> as a prospective student.<\/p>\n

Environment<\/h2>\n

As with every Open Day at WUR, the mood is cheerful, and the university is busy with parents and young people. I cannot miss mentioning the snacks and refreshments, either! An apple and a fresh lemon&mint water, followed by a tasty Biscoff cookie..I’m sold\ud83d\ude4a<\/p>\n

Aside from that, those days always feel special to me. No matter if I am participating or just happen to be on campus, the energy is different from the usual. It reminds me of how I, and I suppose my parents, felt when I was applying. The positive emotions, the excitement, but also the little worry from the unknown, and definitely the never-ending questions, haha! It is always nice to look back and see how everything works out in the end.\ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Programme Presentations<\/h2>\n

Every Master’s Programme has a presentation<\/strong>, where you get to learn more about what you’ll study, the structure and specialisations, as well as the admission requirements. Afterwards, a current student<\/strong> shares their experience and how they like it! I particularly like this since you get a feeling of the programme beyond the formalities and of course, you can ask someone who’ll for sure understand you, as they were in your place just a couple of years ago.
\nI am currently doing my Bachelor’s in Food Technology, so I listened to the presentations of the programmes that interest me the most – Master’s Food Technology<\/a> (MFT), European Master’s in Food Studies<\/a> (EMFS), and Master’s Food Quality Management<\/a> (MFQ). For me, it was very helpful to see the dynamics and guide myself better.<\/p>\n

\"mod<\/a> \"mod<\/a><\/p>\n

At the Open Days, there are also presentations about essential information<\/strong> for applicants and student life<\/strong>. Living in Wageningen for a 3rd year now, I know all of this to the detail. However, if you are a prospect, I just know you’re curious about that!\ud83d\ude43

Exploring the Programme’s Infro Market<\/h2>\n

I just now told you I know how things here are, right? Well, not entirely, haha. Even though I study here, and even after the Programmes’ Presentations, I stiiill had questions. So, where do I go? Directly to the Information Market<\/strong>!\ud83d\ude04<\/p>\n

There, I visited four different stands to learn more about the programmes. First, I stopped by the MFT<\/strong> and the EMFS<\/strong>. Since I am also interested in\u00a0MFQ<\/strong>, I spoke with a current Master’s student about it as well. We discussed my interests and how they might fit within the MFQ specialisations. They also suggested visiting the stand for another programme, Master Communication, Health and Life Sciences – MCH<\/strong><\/a>,<\/span>\u00a0since it had some common points with my pursuits.<\/p>\n

This really showed me how much attention is given to students’ personal interests during the Open Days. Everyone is approachable, open, and happy to answer questions. That is especially true for the students at each stand, representing their programme. Like every (future) student, they can understand exactly what it feels like to be on the other side, wondering about 100 things, haha.<\/p>\n

Do you still have questions?<\/p>\n

If you do, good job! Means you’re taking a lot of things into account. You can chat with current students<\/a> on Unibuddy<\/a><\/strong> and ask them questions about the programme or student life at WUR.
\nIf you need more professional help from the University, the Student Service Centre<\/strong><\/a> is also always here to help!<\/p>\n

Lastly, but still as important<\/em>, the Virtual Open Day<\/strong> <\/a>is on 2nd April<\/strong>. That’s today<\/em>!\u00a0Did you sign up? Quick, quick!
\nIt is for anyone interested in any of the Bachelor’s or Master’s programmes. You’ll get to learn more about them, alongside the application process, academic outline, housing, student life, and many more.
