What is it like to be a Master’s student? In this blog, we follow a week in the life of Eva<\/strong>, a Master’s student at Wageningen University & Research. From attending classes and working on assignments to spending time with friends and exploring student life in Wageningen, Eva shares what a typical week looks like for her.<\/p>\n

Eva is a 25-year-old Master’s student from Germany. She is currently in her first year of the Food Technology Master’s<\/strong><\/a> programme at WUR. Eva moved to Wageningen in 2024 to complete her pre-Master’s<\/a> programme and has been enjoying student life in the city ever since.<\/p>\n

\"Meet<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

During the Day<\/h2>\n

Eva usually starts her day early, as most of her classes take place in the morning and afternoon. She spends most of her weekdays on campus<\/strong> and is often there until around 5 p.m. During lunch breaks, she enjoys catching up with friends<\/strong> at WUR buildings<\/a> such as Aurora, Forum, or Orion. This year, she has taken several interesting courses<\/strong>, with Advanced Food Chemistry, Molecular Gastronomy, and Nutrition and Sports being among her favourites. During practical sessions, she is in the lab<\/strong> doing experiments and gaining hands-on experience in food science.<\/p>\n

After Classes<\/h2>\n

Once classes are done, Eva usually heads to De Bongerd<\/strong><\/a> before going home. Sports<\/strong> are an important part of her routine and help her relax after classes. She enjoys staying active and spends time at the gym or playing squash with her roommate. On Tuesdays, she goes to the volleyball training<\/strong>, where she not only plays volleyball but also enjoys socialising with other members afterwards. For Eva, sports are a great way to stay healthy, meet new people, and balance her studies. Once home, she usually has dinner<\/strong> with her roommates or cooks together with friends. After that, she either continues studying<\/strong> for her exams or works on upcoming deadlines. It is a quiet end to her day, focused on finishing university tasks and preparing for the next day.<\/p>\n

Weekends<\/h2>\n

Eva spends her weekends in different ways. Sometimes she explores cities<\/strong> across the Netherlands and goes on small trips. Other times, she stays in Wageningen<\/strong>, where she visits the market, meets friends, and goes to house parties. She also often travels back to Germany<\/strong> to see her family and friends, which makes her weekends a mix of relaxation, social time, and travelling.<\/p>\n

\"Exploring \"Wandering \"Having<\/p>\n

What Eva likes most about being a student at WUR is the international environment<\/strong>. She enjoys meeting people from all over the world and taking part in activities and events that celebrate different cultures. She also really likes the wide variety of sports available, which allows her to stay active and try new things alongside her studies.<\/p>\n
