‘After completing my studies in Plant Breeding at Wageningen University in the eighties, I started focussing on research on molecular plant genetics. Biotechnology was all the rage back then. Now, my focus is directed more towards natural genetic variation. I am very excited to discover how exactly photosynthesis works; it is a fascinating process.’
