Robbert Snep has worked on green in cities at Wageningen University & Research since 1998. As an ecologist, he studies urban nature. He obtained his PhD on nature in industrial areas and functional green for health improvement and climate adaptation. His work combines applied research and advising developers, governments, designers and nature organisations in the Netherlands and abroad. ‘It is challenging to be able to contribute to better living conditions in cities through my expertise in urban nature. My passion for nature motivates me to inspire relevant parties in urban areas to approach urbanisation from a more natural perspective. It is good to see this is often successful. Large businesses, project developers, and municipalities are motivated by my stories to focus more on green and biodiversity. Several green city projects have already been concluded successfully, and I hear positive stories about how this impacts those using the areas.’
