This project combines fundamental questions and immediate application of forestry use. This is a fascinating combination. As a forestry expert, I try to understand the forest based on research on individual trees. And conversely, you can understand individual trees better by studying the whole forestry system. I am interested in fundamental questions. How do trees grow? How do they grow in different environments? Why do they die? And I am worried about the future of our forests. How we can combine production with the conservation of nature and biodiversity is one of the major challenges.
