Kees de Koning · manager Innovation

Kees de Koning grew up on a small mixed farm in North Brabant. After studying at HAS University of Applied Sciences in Den Bosch, he was employed as an agricultural extension officer and later as a policy officer at the Ministry of Agriculture. In the 1990s, De Koning switched to research work in Wageningen and became involved in the development of milking robots. He went on to hold various management roles, and was particularly involved in applied research at WUR. De Koning was the driving force behind the establishment of the Dairy Campus in Leeuwarden ten years ago and was appointed innovation manager in 2018. “We are constantly developing new projects. It is important for us to keep an open mind and to regularly stop and consider why we do things the way we do, with an eye to animal welfare and the climate, the needs of the farmer, and ultimately the profit.”
