Timeline from application to the start of your studies at WUR

By Luisa Fernanda

The summer is quickly approaching so, this is the perfect time to start preparing all you need to come to WUR. From choosing a programme and submitting your documents to finding a room in Wageningen, there are a lot of things to keep track of. Therefore, to make sure you are on the right path, we have created a timeline with the most important steps in the process.

Send application in Studielink:
Before pushing the “submit” button, you need to have previously checked if you can be admitted. In the case of BSc programmes, you should have studied specific subjects depending on what programme you will apply for and have a high school diploma. For MSc programmes, you need to have studied a BSc degree that is relevant to the master’s programme you will apply for and have a GPA that meets the requirements of WUR. In both cases, you also need to prove that you are proficient in English.

Upload documents to the application portal:

After having applied via Studielink, you will receive an email from Wageningen University to give you access to the application portal. The documents you need to complete your application are a BSc degree, a transcript of academic records, sufficient English language proficiency, a motivation letter and your CV.

Register at ROOM.nl:
As soon as you know that you will come to Wageningen, register at ROOM.nl. The longer you are registered, the more likely it is you will find a room in time.

Visa and residence permit:
Some non-EU students need to have a visa and/or a residence permit to study in the Netherlands. The International Office (IO) will contact you to start this process in due time. You can find all the information on the website.

Pay your tuition fees:
Students from NL/EEA/SME countries pay statutory tuition fees. Students from non-NL/EEA/SME countries pay institutional tuition fees. Check here for more detailed information.

Travel to Wageningen:
Before moving to Wageningen, you need to prepare a lot of stuff. Read our packing list blog post to get some useful tips.

Join the Annual Introduction Days (AID):
The Annual Introduction Days are a great way to start your time in Wageningen. During these days, you will get the chance to explore the campus, and the town and meet a lot of fellow students.

Start your studies at WUR!

I applied, with my documents attached but
I missed the procedures for proficiency in English, like I don’t have the test results.
Another thing I may need to know is about scholarships because I would wish to study from Neitherlands but my financial status can’t allow me. Thanks

I am a junior from China. I will soon get my bachelor’s degree in food science and technology.
But I am very interested in biology. Would you like to tell me if I can apply the master’s program of biotechnology?

Do we have to pay full fee after getting admission? Like for international students its like €19k , can we pay that instalments or full? Can you please inform me? It’s serious.

        Dear Waqas,

That is a question that should be directed to the financial office located at the student service centre. I will send you an email with their contact.

Hi there, I’m Himmat, a student currently completing my undergraduate degree in India. I’ve applied to WUR for an MSc program. Something I’ve faced in my applications is that many institutions do not recognize three year degrees from India. I have asked many offices, but was hoping you could provide some clarity in this regard.

      Dear Himmat,

Thank you for your question. I suggest you directly contact the student service centre at ssc@wur.nl.

Is there another take in before september or I have to start my application next year in Feb/March ?

      Hi Anirudh Aditya Uppal,

Good to hear that. You can apply from 1 October 2023 again for the next round. As the registration for a start in September is already closed.

Hi, I’m Luciano, an undergraduate biology student from Argentina. I’m currently finishing my undergraduate thesis project and I want to pursue a MSc in Biology here at Wageningen.
My question is about the application timeline for the program that starts in February. In this case, the first application deadline is the studielink documents (15 November of 2023). So, I would start (after uploading to the WU portal, finding my room in ROOM.nl, the IO formalities, and paying tuition) in February 2024? Or, the process takes more time, and in this case, it would be for starting in February 2025?
The same goes for applying to the program which starts in September. I would be applying on the 15 of June 2025 and starting in September 2025 or 2026?

    Thanks!

      Hi Luciano,

Many thanks for your message. I think it’s good if you contact ssc@wur.nl with this question. They will help you out with your questions.

      Kind regards,
      Vincent

    Hi there,

My name is Miguel, I’m from Brazil. I’m really interested in studying in Wageningen, but if possible I wanted to talk to some students to see how things are there first (specially with someone doing the BCs Soil, Water, Atmosphere, which is what I intend to do). Where could I get someone’s contact to talk to?

    Kind regards,
    Miguel

      Dear Miguel,

You can click here to visit our page for the specific Bachelor program you are interested in. Then, you should be able to see a pop up message where you can chat with one of the student ambassadors. Hopefully this helped!

      Kind regards,
      Laura Sanchez
