By Natalia Giner Laguarda

I am originally from Spain, Valencia. I'm a 23 years old Spa...

Arriving to Wageningen is by far the hardest task I had to accomplish in my entire Erasmus. For many students, getting used to all the new systems and people is extremelly hard. There is a lot of new information which become hard to process while dealing with you new courses. Therefore, Wageningen University has came up with a new application to help new students as you. With the WUR W’App you can find all the required information for your firsts weeks in Wageningen.

What does the WUR W’App contain?

The WUR W’App is an application that you can download on your phone. The application is available for all bachelor and master students. This new app contains information on how to travel to Wageningen, how to use public transport and how to register at the university and the municipality. Furthermore, you can learn about relevant insurances, cycling, how to open a Bank account or how to deal with the health system.

WUR W’App also contains maps that show the most important locations in Wageningen.

Get started in Wageningen

In just a couple of days you will realize how hard can it be dealing with a bike. However, do not get stressed, your bike will break but it will be fine. Everyones bike break at least once, you will not be the only one. There are many services available to deal with these kind of problems and everyone will be happy to help you.

Furthermore, the app includes a cultural guide about the Dutch and even a bit of language support to start with in case you fancy to learn thelanguage. Besides, the app offers an overview of the different national and local events so can be updated of what is going on in Wageningen. Start by going to the market on a Saturday monday and try the different dutch products that you can buy in there. The city centre is a cosy place to have breakfast and meet with some friends to enjoy a moorning in Wageningen.

You will realize that The Netherlands is a pretty active country in terms of cultural events, however you need to be aware of all those events as it is hard to know about their existence.

If you are planning to come to Wageningen or you have just arrived, I would strongly recommend you to download this app on your phone!

I am originally from Spain, Valencia. I'm a 23 years old Spanish girl who is in love with sports and the sun. I love travelling and running wherever I am. You will find me for sure in Sport Centre de Bongerd as is probably my second house (both the gym and the bar).

I did my biotechnology Bachelor in Valencia and even though I liked it very much, I was still CURIOUS about how far it could go. Hence, I decided to give a shot in The Netherlands and I came three years ago to do my erasmus. Then I came again for my Master's (Biotechnology & Molecular Life Science). Synthetic Biology is by far my favorite field in Biotech, and exploring as much as possible in this field is my goal here.

I would love to share my experiences as an international student to whoever is interested and of course I would be more than happy to solve all your questions :)
